Losing weight on your own isn’t always easy. Weight loss support groups are a great way to get that extra boost in confidence as well as adding a socal aspect the process.

There are a wide variety of weight loss groups available in a whole variety of formats, from nationally run organisations such as Weight Watchers through to the local group meeting at the village hall.

The major benefit of joining such a group is the fact that you will be joining a group of people who all have the same objective.

As such, weight loss groups tend to be non-judgmental in nature regardless of weather celebrating a record week or having to pick your self up after a bad week.

One of the common features of a weight loss group is the “weekly weigh in” this has several motivational benefits for members. At the time of the weigh in, this provides an opportunity for members to celebrate their losses after a week of hard work.

During the week, the prospect of the weigh in also acts as a motivation to stick to a sensible diet and exercise regime. The thought of the weight in may be just enough to prevent that slip up caused by eating the wrong thing or missing an exercise session.

Weight loss is also a learning experience, what works for one person may not work for another but weight loss support groups are a great place for sharing hints and tips and trying out new strategies and techniques.
